The Titans and Tom Brady Ride the Media Tide

To call all of the components of the Tom Brady conversation a "media circus" would be an understatement. For weeks, Titans Twitter has been exploding with rumors and theories. Even r/TennesseeTitans has been ablaze with all things Brady. Most notably, however, mainstream sports media outlets have been participating in the conversation for weeks. Stephen A. Smith has been asserting that the Titans are the best spot for Brady for a while now.

So, what does this mean for the franchise? In short, it provides them with something they have been lacking for a considerable amount of time: lasting media exposure. Sure, after the team made it to the playoffs this year, their media mentions rose significantly. By provoking the Tom Brady conversation, Tennesee has been able to stay within the eye of the press even after their playoff run.

Even if the Titans do not end up signing Brady, I believe that they still ended up gaining a lot of crucial exposure that will be helpful going forward. Established media outlets have been prompted to talk about all of the Titans' viable weapons that Brady would have at his disposal if he were to be signed. Up-and-coming players such as AJ Brown have been a part of the conversation, which is beneficial towards gaining respect in the league. This sort of exposure is good for the franchise as a whole because it demonstrates to fans the talent that the franchise possesses. Hence, I think that the whole Brady "circus" is a huge positive for the Titans going forward, especially when considering their small-market status.
